2002 Subaru Outback, Engine: H.630

After I start the car and it turns over it makes a clicking sound, I think the clicking is coming from around the belt. My car is running low on oil, could that be the cause?

  1. You should check your oil level often. One of the worst things you can do is to run the engine low on oil. Top off or change the oil and test to see if the noise calms. If it does, then you know that was the cause.

Another test would be to remove the drive belts and start the engine to see if the noise goes away, if it doesn’t then you know the noise is internal in the engine. If the noise does go away, then you know it is external and to look at the pulleys and accessories.
