1996 ford ranger oil pan rusted through. So I used JB Weld but still leaks. Replacement estimate is 1000 dollars. Is there any cheaper way to fix?<\/p>\n

Yes. Do it yourself. Replace the entire oil pan.<\/p>\n

On 4WD models, it is necessary to remove engine before removing oil pan.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n
\n\n\n\n
1.<\/td>\nDisconnect battery ground cable.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n
2.<\/td>\nRemove air cleaner assembly or air intake tube, then the fan shroud. Place shroud over fan.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n
3.<\/td>\nDisconnect distributor cap with wires and position forward of dash panel. Remove distributor and cover bore opening.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n
4.<\/td>\nRemove front engine mount to crossmember attaching nuts.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n
5.<\/td>\nRemove engine oil dipstick tube, if necessary.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n
6.<\/td>\nRaise and support vehicle.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n
7.<\/td>\nDrain engine oil.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n
8.<\/td>\nOn models equipped with automatic transmission,<\/b> remove transmission filler tube and plug pan hole.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n
9.<\/td>\nOn all models,<\/b> remove oil filter, then disconnect exhaust pipes from exhaust manifolds, if necessary.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n
10.<\/td>\nDisconnect oil cooler bracket and lower cooler, if equipped.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n
11.<\/td>\nRemove starter motor.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n
12.<\/td>\nOn models equipped with automatic transmission,<\/b> disconnect transmission oil cooler lines and position aside.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n
13.<\/td>\nOn all models,<\/b> disconnect stabilizer bar or righthand axle beam (whichever applicable) and move forward.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n
14.<\/td>\nRaise engine as high as possible using a suitable jack, then place wooden blocks between front engine mounts and crossmember. Lower engine to rest on wooden blocks and remove jack.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n
15.<\/td>\nRemove oil pan attaching bolts and lower pan onto crossmember.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n
16.<\/td>\nRemove oil pan from vehicle.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n
