\nhow and where do I adjust the headlight??<\/p>\n

\nHeadlight Adjustment may be required from time to time. If so, pop the hood and you should see two dials (hex shaped plastic screws) on each of the headlight assemblies. One is for your high beams and one is for your low beams. You’ll need to measure from the ground up to the center of your bulb and make that marking on the wall for each of your bulbs (so four marks). Then park about 30 feet away from the wall (make sure you’re on a level surface that’s level with the wall base. If the light says VOR, then the top of the brightest area of the light should line up with the mark. if it says VOL, then the top of the brightest area of the light should line up two inches below the mark.

How to Adjust Headlights<\/h2>\n

Headlights must be properly aimed to provide the best road illumination. The lights should be checked for proper aim and adjusted as necessary. Certain state and local authorities have requirements for headlight aim; these should be checked before adjustment is made.<\/p>\n

When adjusted properly, the lights should not glare in oncoming traffic’s windshields, nor should they illuminate the passenger compartment of vehicles driving in front of you. These adjustments are rough and should always be fine-tuned by a repair shop that is equipped with approved, headlight aiming tools. Improper adjustments may be both dangerous and illegal. Temporary headlight adjustment may be made using a wall, using the following procedure, or on the rear of another vehicle.<\/p>\n

CAUTION
\nWhen headlights are replaced or any time front-end work is performed on your vehicle, the headlights should be accurately aimed by a qualified auto repair<\/a> shop using the proper equipment. Headlights not properly aimed can make it virtually impossible to see and may blind other drivers on the road, causing injury or death. The following procedure is a temporary fix, until you can take your vehicle to a repair shop for a proper adjustment.<\/p>\n

Note: Because the composite headlight assembly is bolted into position, no adjustment should be necessary or possible. Some applications, however, may be bolted to an adjuster plate or may be retained by adjusting screws. If so, follow this procedure when adjusting the lights, but always have the adjustment checked by a qualified shop.<\/p>\n

For most of the vehicles, horizontal and vertical aiming of each sealed beam unit is provided by two adjusting screws that move the retaining ring and adjusting plate against the tension of a spring. There are no adjustments for focus; this is done during headlight manufacturing.<\/p>\n

Before removing a headlight bulb or disturbing the headlamp in any way, note the current settings in order to ease headlight adjustment upon reassembly. If the high or low beam setting of the old lamp still works, this can be done using the wall of a garage or a building:
\n1.Park the vehicle on a level-surface, with the fuel tank about 1\/2 full and with the vehicle empty of all extra cargo (unless normally carried)<\/p>\n

\u25e6The vehicle should be facing a wall that is no less than six feet (1.8m) high and 12 feet (3.7m) wide
\n\u25e6The front of the vehicle should be about 25 feet from the wall
\n\u25e6If aiming is to be performed outdoors, wait until dusk to properly see the headlight beams on the wall
\n\u25e6If done in a garage, darken the area around the wall as much as possible by closing shades or hanging cloth over windows<\/p>\n

2.Turn the headlights ON
\n3.Mark the wall at the center of each light’s low beam
\n4.Turn on the high beams and mark the center of each headlight’s high beam.<\/p>\n

\u25e6A short length of masking tape that is visible from the front of the vehicle may be used.<\/p>\n

Note: Although marking all four positions is advisable, marking one position from each light should be sufficient.

\n5.Perform any necessary repairs \u25e6Make sure the vehicle is not moved, or is returned to the exact spot from where the lights were marked<\/p>\n

6.Turn the headlights ON
\n7.Adjust the beams to match the marks on the wall<\/p>\n

Have the headlight adjustment checked as soon as possible by a qualified repair shop.<\/p>\n

WARNING
\nHalogen bulbs contain a gas under pressure. Handling a bulb improperly could cause it to shatter into flying glass fragments.
\n\u2022To help avoid personal injury:
\n\u2022Turn off the headlamp switch and allow the bulb to cool before changing bulbs. Leave the headlamp switch off until the bulb change is complete.
\n\u2022Always wear eye protection when changing a halogen bulb.
\n\u2022Handle the bulb only by its base. Avoid touching the glass.
\n\u2022Do not drop or scratch the bulb. Keep moisture away.
