There are several reasons why your car won’t charge:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. Faulty “NEW” alternator – How to test an Alternator<\/a><\/li>\n
  2. Faulty “NEW” battery<\/li>\n
  3. Bad connections or corrosion<\/li>\n
  4. Blown Fuse – fuse B, 120 amp or Fuse 11, 15 amp<\/li>\n
  5. Bad wiring – Wiring Harness<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The charging system consists of the following components:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    • generator<\/li>\n
    • integral voltage regulator<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      The generator maximum output provides 110 amps.<\/p>\n

      Charging System<\/h5>\n

      The charging system is a negative ground system consisting of the following:<\/p>\n

      • PCM (2.0L Zetec)<\/li>\n
      • internal voltage regulator<\/li>\n
      • charging system warning indicator<\/li>\n
      • battery<\/li>\n

        The generator<\/span> is belt-driven by the engine accessory drive system.<\/p>\n

        Battery<\/h5>\n

        The battery is a 12 volt direct current source connected in a negative ground system. The battery case is sealed and includes two vent holes to release gases. The battery has three major functions:<\/p>\n

        • engine cranking power source<\/li>\n
        • voltage stabilizer for the electrical system<\/li>\n
        • temporary power when electrical loads exceed the generator<\/span> output current<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
