It is a 2003 Ford Escape<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>RESPONSE<\/p>\n<p><strong>There are several reasons why your car won&#8217;t charge:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Faulty &#8220;NEW&#8221; alternator &#8211; <a href=\"\/\/www.freeautomechanic.com\/alternator.html\">How to test an Alternator<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Faulty &#8220;NEW&#8221; battery<\/li>\n<li>Bad connections or corrosion<\/li>\n<li>Blown Fuse &#8211; fuse B, 120 amp or Fuse 11, 15 amp<\/li>\n<li>Bad wiring &#8211; <a href=\"\/\/www.freeautomechanic.com\/wiring-harness.html\">Wiring Harness<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>The charging system consists of the following components:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>generator<\/li>\n<li>integral voltage regulator<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The generator maximum output provides 110 amps.<\/p>\n<h5>Charging System<\/h5>\n<p>The charging system is a negative ground system consisting of the following:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li><span class=\"search_highlight\">generator<\/span><\/li>\n<li>PCM (2.0L Zetec)<\/li>\n<li>internal voltage regulator<\/li>\n<li>charging system warning indicator<\/li>\n<li>battery<\/li>\n<li>circuitry and cables<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The <span class=\"search_highlight\">generator<\/span> is belt-driven by the engine accessory drive system.<\/p>\n<h5>Battery<\/h5>\n<p>The battery is a 12 volt direct current source connected in a negative ground system. The battery case is sealed and includes two vent holes to release gases.
