The engine would cut out like it was out of gas. Sometimes it would die, but start right back up. Now its happening just driving down the road. We changed the fuel filter, that did not help. Don&#8217;t know what to check now?<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>RESPONSE<\/p>\n<p>90% certain it is the ignition control module. This is a common failure part for this model.<\/p>\n<h2>Ignition Control Module Replacement<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Remove the distributor cap and rotor.<\/li>\n<li>Disconnect the harness connector and pick-up coil spade connectors from the <span class=\"search_highlight\">module<\/span>. Be careful not to damage the wires when removing the connector.<\/li>\n<li>Remove the two screws and <span class=\"search_highlight\">module<\/span> from the distributor housing.<\/li>\n<li>Coat the bottom of the new <span class=\"search_highlight\">module<\/span> with dielectric silicone lubricant. This is usually supplied with the new <span class=\"search_highlight\">module<\/span>. Reverse the above procedure to install.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>1991\u201398 Jeep vehicles are not equipped with an <span class=\"search_highlight\">ignition<\/span> control <span class=\"search_highlight\">module<\/span>. However, the functions of the <span class=\"search_highlight\">ignition<\/span> control <span class=\"search_highlight\">module<\/span> are performed by the Electronic Control Unit (ECU), also known as the Powertrain Control <span class=\"search_highlight\">Module<\/span> (PCM).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The problem started when turning right.
