Sometimes it works half across the window, other times it wipes 2,3,or 12 times across .<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>RESPONSE<\/p>\n<h3>Rear Wiper Arm<\/h3>\n<p>First thing to look at would be the mounting of the rear window wiper arm also since it is easy to get to. There is a retaining nut on arm that at times may come loose and need to be tightened.\u00a0 If the retaining nut is found secure the next step would be to replace the rear wiper motor assembly.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-50755\" src=\"\/\/www.freeautomechanic.com\/mechanic\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/2011-ford-escape-wiper-arm-nut.jpg\" alt=\"rear wiper arm nut 2011 Ford Escape\" width=\"250\" height=\"162\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Rear Window Wiper Motor Replacement<\/h3>\n<p>Removal and Installation<br \/>\n1.Remove the rear pivot arm. For additional information, refer to Wiper Pivot Arm \u2014 Rear in this section.<br \/>\n2.Remove the rear window wiper motor shaft nut cover.<br \/>\n3.Remove the rear window wiper motor shaft nut. \u2022To install, hand-tighten the nut, then tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-in).<\/p>\n<p>4.Open the liftgate window.<br \/>\n5.Remove the rear window wiper motor cover trim panel.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-50756\" src=\"\/\/www.freeautomechanic.com\/mechanic\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/2011-ford-escape-rear-wiper-motor-trim.jpg\" alt=\"rear wiper motor trim 2011 Ford Escape\" width=\"250\" height=\"162\" \/><\/p>\n<p>6.Remove the rear wiper motor.<\/p>\n<p>1.Disconnect the electrical connector.<br \/>\n2.Remove the 2 rear window wiper motor nuts. \u25feTo install, tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in).<\/p>\n<p>3.Remove the rear window wiper motor.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-50757\" src=\"\/\/www.freeautomechanic.com\/mechanic\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/2011-ford-escape-rear-wiper-motor.jpg\" alt=\"rear wiper motor 2011 Ford Escape\" width=\"250\" height=\"162\" \/><\/p>\n<p>7.To install, reverse the removal procedure.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rear wiper works intermittently.
