{"id":32699,"date":"2024-04-06T14:35:54","date_gmt":"2024-04-06T21:35:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.freeautomechanic.com\/mechanic\/forum\/?p=32699"},"modified":"2024-04-06T14:35:55","modified_gmt":"2024-04-06T21:35:55","slug":"2007-mercury-milan-clutch-is-going-out","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.freeautomechanic.com\/mechanic\/forum\/2024\/04\/2007-mercury-milan-clutch-is-going-out","title":{"rendered":"2007 Mercury Milan clutch is going out"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When I accelerate my car accelerates slow and the rpms jump what could be wrong with my car????<\/p>\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>All sorts of things. clutch slipping is what it sounds like to me. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-clutch-replace\">CLUTCH, REPLACE<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Remove A\/C compressor as outlined in &#8220;Compressor, Replace.&#8221;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remove bolt from compressor shaft while holding clutch plate and hub with counterhold tool No. 412-134 or equivalent. Do not use air tools. Compressor pulley may be damaged.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remove clutch plate, hub and shims.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remove snap ring from compressor pulley.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remove compressor pulley using suitable puller.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remove snap ring, then remove clutch field coil using suitable puller.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:<br \/>a. Inspect components for damage, wear and grooving. If one defective component is found, clutch plate, hub and pulley must all be replaced together.<br \/>b. Clean all mounting surfaces.<br \/>c. Torque compressor shaft bolt to 10 ft. lbs.<br \/>d. Adjust air gap shims as outlined in &#8220;Air Gap, Adjustment.&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When I accelerate my car accelerates slow and the rpms jump what could be wrong with my car????
