There are no shims needed or used during a starter replacement on a 1993 ford explorer sport.<\/p>\n<h3>Starter Replacement 1993 Ford Explorer<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Removal:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1.Disconnect the negative battery cable.<br \/>\n2.Raise the front of the vehicle and install jack stands beneath the frame. Firmly apply the parking brake and place blocks in back of the rear wheels. Disconnect all wires connected to the starter, including this ground wire on the starter mounting bolt stud<br \/>\n3.Tag and disconnect the <a href=\"\/\/www.freeautomechanic.com\/wiring-harness.html\">wiring harness<\/a> at the starter.<br \/>\nWARNING<br \/>\nWhen detaching the hard shell connector at the S-terminal, grasp the plastic shell to pull it off. Do not pull on the wire itself. Ensure to pull the connector straight off to prevent damage to the connector and S-terminal. Tighten the mounting bolts to 15\u201319 ft. lbs. (21\u201327 Nm).<br \/>\n6.Install the starter solenoid connector by pushing it straight on. Ensure that the connector locks in position with a notable click.<br \/>\nInstall the starter cable nut to the starter solenoid B-terminal. Tighten the nut to 80\u2013123 inch lbs. (9\u201314 Nm).<\/p>\n<p>7.Connect any remaining wiring to the starter motor.<br \/>\n8.Lower the front of the vehicle and remove the wheel blocks.<br \/>\n9.Connect the negative battery cable.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Does it need shims for starter ?
