An internal diode has failed inside your alternator. Replacing the alternator should take care of the battery light.<\/p>\n<h3>Charging System Indicators<\/h3>\n<div id=\"section_comment_3\" class=\"section_comments\">\u00a0<b>BATTERY<\/b><\/div>\n<p>The IPC illuminates the battery indicator when the following occurs:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"BULLET\">\n<li>The PCM detects that the <span class=\"search_highlight\">generator<\/span> output is less than 11\u00a0volts or greater than 16\u00a0volts.\u00a0 IPC receives a class\u00a02 message from the PCM requesting illumination.<\/li>\n<li>The IPC determines that the system voltage is less than 11\u00a0volts or greater than 16\u00a0volts.\u00a0 IPC receives a class\u00a02 message from the body control module (BCM) indicating the system voltage.<\/li>\n<li>The IPC performs the displays test at the start of each ignition cycle. The indicator illuminates for approximately 3\u00a0seconds.<\/li>\n<li>The ignition is on, with the engine off.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>BATTERY NOT CHARGING<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The IPC illuminates the battery not charging indicator in the driver information center when the following occurs:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"BULLET\">\n<li>The PCM detects that the <span class=\"search_highlight\">generator<\/span> output is less than 11\u00a0volts or greater than 16\u00a0volts.\u00a0 IPC receives a class\u00a02 message from the PCM requesting illumination.<\/li>\n<li>The IPC determines that the system voltage is less than 11\u00a0volts or greater than 16\u00a0volts.\u00a0 IPC receives a class\u00a02 message from the body control module (BCM) indicating the system voltage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have a battery light on and when engine is off and keys in pocket still have a dim battery light.
