Where do I start?<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>RESPONSE<\/p>\n<h3>Intermittent Crank No Start<\/h3>\n<p>Replace the <a href=\"\/\/www.freeautomechanic.com\/battery.html\">battery<\/a>. Most likely the battery has an internal short. The battery has enough juice to crank a little but not enough to do the job proper. This is why it doesn&#8217;t take much to jump start it.<\/p>\n<h4>Battery<\/h4>\n<h5>Removal and Installation<\/h5>\n<ol>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li>Disconnect the battery cables. For additional information, refer to Battery Disconnect in this section.<\/li>\n<li>Remove the battery heat shield.<\/li>\n<li>Remove the hold-down bolt and the bracket.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-37888\" src=\"\/\/www.freeautomechanic.com\/mechanic\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/2002-ford-explorer-battery-hold-down.gif\" alt=\"battery hold down 2002 Ford Explorer\" width=\"269\" height=\"174\" \/><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Take out the battery.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>WARNING:<\/strong> When lifting a battery, excessive pressure on the end walls could cause acid to spew through the vent caps, resulting in personal injury.
