The PCM counts the signal for engine rpm.<\/li>\n<li>For additional information on the CKP sensor, refer to Section 303-14.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The ignition coil:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>changes low voltage pulses from the powertrain control module to high voltage pulses.<\/li>\n<li>has three transformers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The spark plug wires carry high voltage pulses from the ignition coil to the spark plugs.<\/p>\n<p>The spark plugs:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>change high voltage pulses into spark at the gap, which ignites the fuel and air mixture.<\/li>\n<li>have a platnium-enhanced active electrode for long life.
