This doesn&#8217;t however mean it can not be done. Though it may not be as simple as it may have once been it is still possible.<\/p>\n<h3>Transmission Fluid Replacement<\/h3>\n<h4>Draining Procedure<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-51321\" src=\"\/\/www.freeautomechanic.com\/mechanic\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/2005-cts-transmission-diagram.gif\" alt=\"2005 CTS Transmission Diagram\" width=\"320\" height=\"296\" \/>Raise and suitably support the vehicle.<\/li>\n<li>Clean away all dirt and debris from the transmission fluid temperature sensor\/drain plug area.<\/li>\n<li>Place a suitable drain pan under the transmission.<\/li>\n<li>Disconnect the electrical connector from the transmission fluid temperature sensor\/drain plug.<\/li>\n<li>Remove the fluid temperature sensor\/drain plug (4).<\/li>\n<li>Allow the system to drain.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Caution!<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Install the transmission fluid temperature sensor\/drain plug (4).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Tighten<\/strong><br \/>\nTighten the transmission fluid temperature sensor\/drain plug to 18 N\u00b7m (13 lb ft).<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Connect the electrical connector to the transmission fluid temperature sensor\/drain plug.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Filling Procedure<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-51322\" src=\"\/\/www.freeautomechanic.com\/mechanic\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/2005-cts-transmission-fluid-fill-plug.gif\" alt=\"transmission fluid fill plug 2005 CTS\" width=\"320\" height=\"296\" \/>Clean away all dirt and debris from the transmission fluid fill plug area.<\/li>\n<li>Remove the transmission fluid fill plug.<\/li>\n<li>Fill the transmission with DEXRON\u00ae-III transmission fluid, until even with the bottom of the fill plug hole.<\/li>\n<li>Install the transmission fluid fill plug.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Tighten<\/strong><br \/>\nTighten the transmission fluid fill plug to 18 N\u00b7m (13 lb ft).<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Remove the drain pan.<\/li>\n<li>Lower the vehicle.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I need to check transmission fluid.
