Also had a smell of burning wires after trying to start. Was able to jump starter to get it home. Is the starter solenoid bad?<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.freeautomechanic.com\/mechanic\/forum\/2017\/11\/1995-chevy-blazer-single-click-from-starter\"><strong>Single Click from Starter<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Be sure the battery is in good working condition. If while holding the ignition in &#8220;START&#8221; there is no battery positive going to the &#8220;S&#8221; terminal on the starter the starter relay may be faulty. If battery positive is going to the &#8220;S&#8221; terminal, replace the starter.<\/p>\n<h3>Testing the starter relay<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Remove the fuse box cover.<\/li>\n<li>Remove the starter relay (A).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-53974\" src=\"https:\/\/www.freeautomechanic.com\/mechanic\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/2012-kia-soul-starter-relay-location-diagram.gif\" alt=\"starter relay location 2012 KIA Soul\" width=\"267\" height=\"201\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Using an ohmmeter, check that there is continuity between each terminal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Terminal 30 -87\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Continuity NO<\/p>\n<p>Terminal 85 &#8211; 86\u00a0\u00a0 Continuity YES<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Apply 12V to terminal 85 and ground to terminal 86.<\/li>\n<li>Check for continuity between terminals 30 and 87.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-53975\" src=\"https:\/\/www.freeautomechanic.com\/mechanic\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/2012-kia-soul-starter-relay-testing.gif\" alt=\"starter relay 2012 KIA Soul\" width=\"268\" height=\"201\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If there is no continuity, replace the starter relay.<\/li>\n<li>Install the starter relay.<\/li>\n<li>Install the fuse box cover.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have a 2012 KIA Soul and it will not start, just one click.
