How is that done?<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Rear Electronic Module (REM) Replacement Procedure<\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-55298\" src=\"https:\/\/www.freeautomechanic.com\/mechanic\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/2004-volvo-xc90-rem-module-location-300x226.png\" alt=\"2004-volvo-xc90-rem-module-location\" width=\"300\" height=\"226\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.freeautomechanic.com\/mechanic\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/2004-volvo-xc90-rem-module-location-300x226.png 300w, https:\/\/www.freeautomechanic.com\/mechanic\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/2004-volvo-xc90-rem-module-location.png 674w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The REM Module is a separate unit in the relay box located in the cargo compartment.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Switch ignition off.<\/li>\n<li>Remove the left side panel in the cargo compartment. <strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">HINT: <\/span>The rear panel in the side panel of the cargo compartment can be removed to change fuses.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Release the relay and fuse box.<\/li>\n<li>Remove the screw holding the connector so that it is free of its threads. Check that the screw is free with your fingers.<\/li>\n<li>Disconnect the connector. Use an open spanner and a support.<\/li>\n<li>Remove all relays and shunts bridged to the control module. Note the locations.<\/li>\n<li>Release the catch on the rear.
