It sometimes takes up to 30 seconds to release. Pressing the brake pedal is required to move the shifter from park to drive. So the brake fluid may be having a hard time moving back. However I would think you would notice this each time you stop and not just when you move the shifter from park to drive.<\/p>\n<p>Most often the car has been setting in the same spot for a while before you need to move the shifter from park to drive. This has me thining the brake calipers or pads are sticking and not being allowed to slide freely. A caliper slide or brake pad slide may be the issue.<\/p>\n<p>No matter the case, removal of the front wheels and an inspection of the front brakes are in order.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.freeautomechanic.com\/brakes.html\"><strong>Brake Repair<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Front Brake Caliper Service<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Raise and support front of vehicle, then remove front tires.<\/li>\n<li>Disconnect brake lines, then remove two caliper attaching bolts and caliper.<\/li>\n<li>Remove piston dust cover, then place a piece of wood or suitable material between both pistons. Force pistons out of bore using low pressure compressed air.<\/li>\n<li>Remove sealing rings, then bleeder screw.<\/li>\n<li>Clean caliper assembly thoroughly using brake fluid or denatured alcohol.<\/li>\n<li>Remove any surface rust on cylinder using fine sandpaper.<\/li>\n<li>Before assembly, coat all components with clean brake fluid, then install new seal rings and pistons.<\/li>\n<li>Install new dust cover and bleeder screw.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My front brakes will not release immediately after I go from park to drive.
