(Refer to DTC-Based Diagnostics\/MODULE, Powertrain Control (PCM) &#8211; Standard Procedure)(Refer To List 1).<\/p>\n<h2>Diagnostic Test<\/h2>\n<p><strong>DTC IS ACTIVE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Diagnose and repair any other active component or circuit DTCs before continuing with this procedure.<br \/>\nTurn the ignition on.<br \/>\nWith the scan tool, select View DTCs. Copy DTC and Freeze Frame information.<br \/>\nStart the engine and allow it to reach operating temperature.<\/p>\n<p><em>WARNING<\/em><br \/>\nWhen the engine is operating, do not stand in direct line with the fan. Do not put your hands near the pulleys, belts, or fan. Do not wear loose clothing. Failure to follow these instructions can result in personal injury or death.<\/p>\n<p><em>NOTE<\/em><br \/>\nAttempt to operate the vehicle under conditions similar to which the DTC was set.<\/p>\n<p><em>NOTE<\/em><br \/>\nIt may be necessary to test drive the vehicle within the DTC monitoring conditions in order for this DTC to set.<\/p>\n<p>With a scan tool, select View DTCs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Is the status Active for this DTC?<\/strong><br \/>\nYes<br \/>\nGo To &gt;&gt;&gt;<br \/>\nNo<br \/>\nRefer to the CHECKING FOR AN INTERMITTENT DTC Diagnostic Procedure. (Refer to DTC-Based Diagnostics\/MODULE, Powertrain Control (PCM) &#8211; Standard Procedure)(Refer To List 1).<br \/>\nRefer To List:<br \/>\nDIAGNOSTIC INSPECTION<\/p>\n<p>NOTE<br \/>\nAnything that affects the speed of the crankshaft can cause this DTC to set. When a misfire is detected, the PCM will shut down the injector control circuit for the misfiring cylinder. Misfire may occur and may not be caused by component failure. Any of the following conditions can cause a misfire.<\/p>\n<h3>Inspect the engine for any of the following conditions:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Worn serpentine belt<\/li>\n<li>Misalignment or binding water pump, P\/S pump or A\/C compressor pulleys<\/li>\n<li>Improper CKP, CMP, or MAP Sensor mounting.<\/li>\n<li>Poor connector\/terminal to component connection for CKP sensor, CMP sensor, MAP sensor, throttle body, fuel injector, ignition coil, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Corroded PCM power or ground circuits.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Vacuum leaks.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Restriction in the air induction or exhaust system.<\/li>\n<li>Internal engine component malfunction.<\/li>\n<li>Moisture on ignition system components<\/li>\n<li>Insufficient fuel<\/li>\n<li>Low quality fuel<\/li>\n<li>Manual transmission bog<\/li>\n<li>Towing overload<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Were any problems found?<\/strong><br \/>\nYes<br \/>\nRepair as necessary.<br \/>\nPerform the PCM Verification Test. (Refer to DTC-Based Diagnostics\/MODULE, Powertrain Control (PCM) &#8211; Standard Procedure)(Refer To List 1).<br \/>\nNo<br \/>\nGo To &gt;&gt;&gt;<br \/>\nRefer To List:<\/p>\n<h5>CHECKING THE FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM<\/h5>\n<p>Perform the diagnostic procedure for CHECKING THE FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM. (Refer to Non-DTC Diagnostics\/Drivability &#8211; Gas &#8211; Diagnosis and Testing).<br \/>\nWere any problems found?<br \/>\nYes<br \/>\nRepair as necessary in accordance with the Service Information.<br \/>\nPerform the PCM Verification Test. (Refer to DTC-Based Diagnostics\/MODULE, Powertrain Control (PCM) &#8211; Standard Procedure)(Refer To List 1).<br \/>\nNo<br \/>\nGo To &gt;&gt;&gt;<br \/>\nRefer To List:<\/p>\n<h5>CHECKING THE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR OPERATION<\/h5>\n<p>Perform the diagnostic procedure for CHECKING THE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR OPERATION. (Refer to Non-DTC Diagnostics\/Drivability &#8211; Gas &#8211; Diagnosis and Testing).<br \/>\nWere any problems found?<br \/>\nYes<br \/>\nRepair as necessary in accordance with the Service Information.<br \/>\nPerform the PCM Verification Test. (Refer to DTC-Based Diagnostics\/MODULE, Powertrain Control (PCM) &#8211; Standard Procedure)(Refer To List 1).<br \/>\nNo<br \/>\nGo To &gt;&gt;&gt;<br \/>\nRefer To List:<\/p>\n<h5>CHECKING THE MAP SENSOR OPERATION<\/h5>\n<p>Perform the diagnostic procedure for CHECKING THE MAP SENSOR OPERATION. (Refer to Non-DTC Diagnostics\/Drivability &#8211; Gas &#8211; Diagnosis and Testing).<br \/>\nWere any problems found?<br \/>\nYes<br \/>\nRepair as necessary in accordance with the Service Information.<br \/>\nPerform the PCM Verification Test. (Refer to DTC-Based Diagnostics\/MODULE, Powertrain Control (PCM) &#8211; Standard Procedure)(Refer To List 1).<br \/>\nNo<br \/>\nGo To &gt;&gt;&gt;<br \/>\nRefer To List:<\/p>\n<h5>CHECKING THE OXYGEN SENSOR OPERATION<\/h5>\n<p>Perform the diagnostic procedure for CHECKING THE OXYGEN SENSOR OPERATION. (Refer to Non-DTC Diagnostics\/Drivability &#8211; Gas &#8211; Diagnosis and Testing).<br \/>\nWere any problems found?<br \/>\nYes<br \/>\nRepair as necessary in accordance with the Service Information.<br \/>\nPerform the PCM Verification Test. (Refer to DTC-Based Diagnostics\/MODULE, Powertrain Control (PCM) &#8211; Standard Procedure)(Refer To List 1).<br \/>\nNo<br \/>\nGo To &gt;&gt;&gt;<br \/>\nRefer To List:<\/p>\n<h5>CHECKING THE ENGINE MECHANICAL SYSTEM<\/h5>\n<p>Perform the diagnostic procedure for CHECKING THE ENGINE MECHANICAL SYSTEM. (Refer to Non-DTC Diagnostics\/Drivability &#8211; Gas &#8211; Diagnosis and Testing).<br \/>\nWere any problems found?<br \/>\nYes<br \/>\nRepair as necessary in accordance with the Service Information.<br \/>\nPerform the PCM Verification Test.(Refer to DTC-Based Diagnostics\/MODULE, Powertrain Control (PCM) &#8211; Standard Procedure)(Refer To List 1).<br \/>\nNo<br \/>\nGo To &gt;&gt;&gt;<br \/>\nRefer To List:<\/p>\n<h5>POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM)<\/h5>\n<p>Using the wiring diagram\/schematic as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors relative to the components tested in this procedure.<br \/>\nLook for any chafed, pierced, pinched, or partially broken wires.<br \/>\nThen Look for broken, bent, pushed out or corroded terminals.<br \/>\nMonitor the scan tool data relative to the components tested in this procedure and wiggle test the wiring and connectors.<br \/>\nLook for the data to change or for a DTC to set during the wiggle test.<br \/>\nRefer to any Technical Service Bulletins that may apply.<br \/>\nWere any problems found?<br \/>\nYes<br \/>\nRepair as necessary.<br \/>\nPerform the PCM Verification Test. (Refer to DTC-Based Diagnostics\/MODULE, Powertrain Control (PCM) &#8211; Standard Procedure)(Refer To List 1).<br \/>\nNo<br \/>\nReplace and program the PCM in accordance with the Service Information.<br \/>\nPerform the PCM Verification Test.
