{"id":79985,"date":"2023-01-19T01:46:07","date_gmt":"2023-01-19T09:46:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.freeautomechanic.com\/mechanic\/forum\/?p=79985"},"modified":"2023-01-19T01:46:07","modified_gmt":"2023-01-19T09:46:07","slug":"oil-filling-number-4-cylinder-2007-rubicon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.freeautomechanic.com\/mechanic\/forum\/2023\/01\/oil-filling-number-4-cylinder-2007-rubicon","title":{"rendered":"Oil filling number 4 cylinder 2007 Rubicon"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Around 140,000 miles.<br \/>Cyl.#4 gets enough oil in it after shutting off that starting in the morning the cylinder can&#8217;t compress.<br \/>Causes?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-possible-causes\">Possible Causes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Worn Valve Seals<\/li><li>Bend valve<\/li><li>Cracked head<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.freeautomechanic.com\/blown-head-gasket.html\">Blown head gasket<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Best guess would be a blown head gasket if it runs great otherwise. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.freeautomechanic.com\/what-is-compression-test.html\">What is a compression test?<\/a><\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-cylinder-head-gasket-r-r\">CYLINDER HEAD GASKET R&amp;R<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>REMOVAL<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Drain <a href=\"https:\/\/www.freeautomechanic.com\/cooling-system-engine.html\">cooling system<\/a>.<\/li><li>Disconnect ground cable from battery.<\/li><li>Remove upper and lower intake manifolds, Fig. 1.Warning: Intake manifold gasket is made of very thin metal and may cause personal injury, handle with care.<\/li><li>Remove cylinder head covers.<\/li><li>Then Remove spark plugs from cylinder head.<\/li><li>Remove oil level indicator and tube, Fig. 2.<\/li><li>Remove exhaust manifold(s).<\/li><li>Remove rocker arm and shaft assemblies (2), Fig. 3. Remove push rods and mark positions to ensure installation in original locations.<\/li><li>Remove eight head bolts from each cylinder head and remove cylinder heads, Fig. 4.<br \/><strong>INSTALLATION<\/strong><\/li><li>Clean all sealing surfaces of engine block and cylinder heads.<\/li><li>Position new gasket(s) on engine block. Lefthand bank gasket is identified with &#8220;L&#8221; stamped in exposed area of gasket located at front of engine illustrated. Righthand bank gasket is identified with a &#8220;R&#8221; stamped in exposed area of gasket also, but is located at rear of engine, Fig. 5.<\/li><li>Cylinder head bolts should be examined before reuse. If threads are necked down, bolts must be replaced.<\/li><li>Necking can be inspected by holding a scale or straight edge against threads. If all threads do not contact scale bolt should be replaced, Fig. 6.<\/li><li>Tighten cylinder head bolts 1-8 in sequence illustrated in, Fig. 4. Using 4 step torque turn method, tighten according to following values:<br \/>a. First pass torque bolts (1-8) to 45 ft. lbs. (61 Nm.), Fig. 4.<br \/>b. Second pass torque bolts (1-8) to 65 ft. lbs. (88 Nm.), Fig. 4.<br \/>c. Third pass torque bolts (1-8) to 65 ft. lbs. (85 Nm.), Fig. 4.<br \/>d. Final pass bolts (1-8) to an additional 1\/4 turn, Fig. 4. Do not use a torque wrench for this step. Bolt torque after 1\/4 turn should be over 90 ft. lbs. (122 Nm.).
