Sometimes my 1997 Oldsmobile 88 has problems starting with or without an engine check light. It has 184k miles on it. Once I start driving, sometimes it just stops accelerating and once it hits 0 MPH. I have to turn the car off and start the car back up to start driving again. Sometimes the steering wheel locks up during the deceleration. What is the problem with my car? Is it the fuel pump?
There is no simple answer for this one. If the check engine light has come on the on board computer will have stored a code. Possibly even more than one code. These diagnostic trouble codes are vital in diagnosing issues with the engine. The good news is that just about any local auto parts store will check these codes at no cost. Once you have the codes post them below for further information.
