I went out to the grocery store and after I put my stuff in the trunk to leave it wouldn’t shut all the way. The trunk does latch but no longer pulls down like it used to. I tried it again when i got home and still the trunk will not pull down.
This is a classic description of a faulty trunk latch motor assembly. You will need to replace it. And if you have a few tools you should be able to do it yourself. Check out the video to see just how easy it is.
How to replace Trunk Latch Motor
Removal
- Open Trunk
- Remove 6 Trunk Carpet Retainers at rear of trunk
- Pull Carpet over latch to gain access to trunk motor assembly
- Disconnect electrical connector
- Remove 3 retaining bolts
Install
- Install in reverse order
