gas spills out

i have a 1966 dodge dart, when i go to fill it up, gas just spills out. i know its empty, and i know how to fill up gas i don’t know what’s wrong.

    You have a hole in the tank, or hole in the fill neck. If it is spraying back out at you, you may have a restriction in the fill neck hose. Remove it and check it for a restriction.
