My 92 taurus engine runs great but put in drv or rev, motor shuts off. put in neutral and motor stays running. Last time I drove it auto trans wouldnt shift out of 2nd gear.3.0 motor

Sounds like your lock up torque converter is locked in and won’t release. Looks like your looking at rebuilding the transmission at this point.
