What might cause my 1998 pontiac trans sport to suddenly be going through more fuel under the same driving conditions and gas quality? The oil was just changed recently and this has not helped.
The most common cause would be related to the check engine light being on. Once the check engine light is illuminated the computer compensates for the failing part/sensor and uses a preset number(parameter) to allow the engine to still operate.
These preset parameters will allow the engine to run but will not be able to give you the good fuel mileage you were used to getting when everything was working properly.
