2001 chev silverado 4 wheel drive service light

while moving forward i tried to engage the 4 wheel auto for slippery conditions. the lights went out on the switch and did not engage the 4 wheel drive system have nothing now . please advise

    First thing to do would be to check your fuses,
    Second, if it is below freezing, you may need to Thaw out the electronic shift solenoid on the transfer case in order to get it to function. Then disconnect the battery for a minute and reconnect it after the truck has had time to thaw.. an hour inside 60 degree shop usually does the trick. This is a common.

    If this doesn’t take care of it, you may need to seek out a dealer to do in depth diagnostics.
