1997 ford explorer

When i put the car in reverse or drive it barely moves. It doesnt have any trouble starting and is running fine what could be wrong?

  1. TRANSMISSION – First thing to check would be the transmission fluid level. Check the level with the engine running in park on a flat surface. If it is low, top it off and test. If it is full and dark colored, you may be looking at a rebuild.

  2. Is it full? if the color of the transmission fluid is pretty pink and is full…. and wasn’t just changed. The next step would be to has a transmission shop put it on there scan tool to check for any codes. If no codes are found. the front pump may be out… usually you will here a whining noise though.
