It sends a signal to the PCM-Powertrain Control Module. Generally if it will not start in park, it will start in neutral. Have someone hold the key in the “START” position and check for voltage at the starter motor relay TAN wire coming in. If you have power here then the Neutral switch is working. Check for power at the RED wire on the same relay with the key in the “ON” position, if you have power there then check for power at the Brown wire of the same relay with the key in the “START” position. if you have power there then the relay is good, no power then replace the relay. If you have power coming from the relay with the key in the “START” position on the Brown wire then also check for battery voltage at the “S” terminal of the Starter(this is the other end of the Brown wire). If you have battery voltage here, replace the starter. No battery voltage here, replace the Brown wire. Comments are closed.
