I’m trying to figure out why when I turn my car on does the windshield wipers start going. The switch is off and my lights don’t work, either do turn signals. Then I go down the road and everything starts working again. Now my engine light is on. Need to know what the problem is and how much it will cost to fix.

Poor electrical connection would be my first guess as for the headlights, turn signal and wipers. Possible switch failure. Would have to be tested when it isn’t working to see where the issue is. Shops will generally charge by the hour for this type of diagnostic work.
As for the check engine light, the codes will have to be scanned with a scan tool in order to know why it is on. The good news is, most any local auto parts stores will do this for free(then try to sell you parts) but you can post the codes below in the comments and I will get you the information you are looking for.
