What happened when you tried to restart it?
Was there any lights still on the dash?
If the engine spins over but sounds like it is spinning much faster. Most likely cause would be Timing belt failure.
No lights on dash and get nothing or several clicks, alternator went out or alternator belt broke and the engine ran off battery till it died.
