The #5 Spark Plug in my 99 Ford Ranger keeps going bad and it has been replaced 4 times. The new plug will last about one month and then it goes bad. What is the possible cause and what would be the solution to the problem.

  1. If the plug is going bad because it is getting oil foiled, the fix would be to have new piston rings installed or head gasket. A compression test would be a good place to start.
If it is getting fuel fouled, you may want to start with the injector on the #5 cylinder.
