Went to have oil changed but garage did not put oil back in.
Garage did not put oil or filter in my 1997 Nissan Altima at oil change. I drove it about 4 miles before I noticed it. What damage could this do to the engine and is the life shortened 138,000 miles
There is some oil still left on the moving components so there was some lubrication available. Having only driven it 4 miles and assuming the engine wasn’t setting still idling for 30 min. before and you heard no noises, you are in luck. The engine didn’t have enough time to heat up and heat is a leading cause of engine damage. Shouldn’t have damaged the engine or shortened the life of the engine any noticeable amount.
