I have a 2005 chevy trailblazer which I replaced the throttle body with the throttle body postion sensor.
Now I need to do a (TPS) Throttle postition sensor relearn.
I need to know a odb2 scanner that can reset/relearn the TPS and also work on other vehicles like my 2003 Nissan Juke.
I want it to have bidirectional features like ecm and bcm programming but if it doesn’t no big deal.
Trying to keep cost for the new scanner under $450.
And a low cost site or source I can purchase the scanner that will work and do what I need it to do.
Scanners I have been looking at:
1.) Launch x431 CRP475 not sure if it can reset the TPS on the 2005 chevy trailblazer?
2.) Foxwell NT510 Elite was told by one venter it will reset TPS on the 2005 chevy trailblazer but another vendor said it will not.
3.) Foxwell NT650 Elite I do like it has a few more functions than Foxwell NT510 but not sure if it will reset TPS on the
2005 chevy trailblazer. Also the NT650 Elite does not have all the features the NT510 Elite has but it does work on other
vehicles.
Please, let me know your opinion on the scanners for items 1-3 if they will work plus pros and cons and let me know the obd2
scanners you suggest and why.
The scanners suggested need to reset the TPS for 2005 chevy trailblazer and work on Nissan and other vehicles also. More functions
the better 🙂
Can’t really say what i think about the scanners you suggested without using them myself. But i can say i have had great success with the OTC Genisys.
Genisys 3875 EVO OBD II 2012 Domestic/Asian /2011 European with System 5.0 – The OTC Genisys is a sophisticated answer to just about any scanning need. The OTC Genisys provides scanning capabilities for a wide variety of cars, vans, and SUVs. Perhaps best of all, software upgrades (available through the Internet) can be directly uploaded to the unit, thus making the Genisys system a great choice for the shop that is dedicated to remaining on top of all the current car trends. OTC has ensured that their scanners are able to “grow” with the times, and they have been leaders in quality assurance for 75 years.
More scanners found here: https://www.freeautomechanic.com/scantoolslist.html
Also, I looked up the reset/relearn procedure for replacing the TPS and did not find any reference to this. So it would seem that this does not need to be done. The scan tool can however test and verify proper throttle opening and throttle closing range.
Throttle Position Sensor Specifications
TPS 1 Voltage @ idle = 4.67; Voltage @ wide open throttle = .27
TPS 2 Voltage @ idle = .27; Voltage @ wide open throttle = 4.67
Thank you for the help my friend is going to split the cost for the Genisys 3875 EVO OBD II.
