Is there a belt that broke? Jeep Grand Cherokee

2008-jeep-grand-cherokee-serpentine-belt

Both my power steering and overheating started at same time on my 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee. And both of there reservoirs are full with fluids. Is there a belt that broke or what?

I would like to think so. Pop the hood and look. The serpentine belt does wrap around both the power steering pump and the water pump. So it would cause both power steering and overheating issues. Don’t stop there when diagnosing though. Before you order the belt check the tensioner and pulleys by spinning them by hand. You should not be able to hear the internal bearings when spinning.

Replace Serpentine Drive Belt

  1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
  2. Rotate belt tensioner until it contacts stop.
  3. Remove drive belt and slowly rotate tensioner into free-arm position. Do not allow drive belt tensioner to snap back, as damage to tensioner and/or personal injury could result.
  4. Reverse procedure to install.

Purchase Belt from Amazon.* I looked up the belt for a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 4.7L engine. Made sure there was free shipping on this one.
