Hi, this isn’t a question about a mechanical problem specifically but I hope that’s okay. I have a VW GTI that I purchased brand new and from the day it rolled off of the lot it has had an intermittent oil pressure warning. It has been in to fix the issue at least a dozen times and the dealership keeps throwing oil pressure sensors at it, or they deny that there is any oil pressure issue at all.
The car is now out of warranty and the issue still persists. I brought it in for the issue again and they basically said “if it’s not the sensors then you need a new engine”.
I know that’s not really true because there’s a number of things it could be, but I feel like I shouldn’t be covering any of the repairs for this issue since it has been a problem from the beginning. Even though the car is out of warranty is there any way that the dealership should cover the repairs whatever they may be? The issue has been documented as well. Thanks.
Not a lawyer so all I can do is give you an opinion on the matter. With that said I will give you a response. The car is covered and they did cover it as long as it is/was under warranty. Maybe not to your satisfaction, but like you said they did do something. The time to have done something else about the issue would have needed to be done while it was under warranty. A lawyer and the pursuit of filling a Lemon Law lawsuit would have been the direction to go. That time has past. Again, just my opinion.
Now, if the last repair, not the car, has a warranty “the repair” should still be covered by them.
