1996 town&country missing at highway speeds

3.8 v6 will drive fine for 30 to 40 minutes at 65 to 75 mph. start missing and die out. let set for 30 minutes to 1hour and drives fine again. have changed coil pack.

  1. This sounds like ti could be a failing crank sensor, but can’t be certain.

First thing to do would be to have the computer scanned for codes. This would lead us in the right direction to make the proper repair.

  2. If you havn’t changed your fuel filter, the load on the fuel pump from trying to force fuel through the filter over heated the pump and caused a field winding to separate when it gets warm, resulting in your problem. After setting for 30 min. to an hour it again makes contact and will work for another 30 min. or so. I had to replace both the filter and the fuel pump to resolve. I had 1996 T & C with 3.8 L engine with approx. 115K mi. and had never been advised to change the fuel filter.
