the rear wheels/rear end is making a clanking noise when turned over. its a catching noise that sounds metal to metal. the issue is worse when turning the front wheels. i cannot drive it. the problem is that severe. What could be the problem?

Noises are some what difficult with out being able to here them, so I will give you the tools to determine the noise yourself so that neither one of us is guessing.

If I had to guess, I would go with U-joints going out or brakes hanging up.
