When my check engine light comes on the car stops shifting and hardly moves. If I clear the check engine code I can drive for 50 miles until the light comes back and I start having these problems.

When my check engine light comes on the car stops shifting and hardly moves. If I clear the check engine code I can drive for 50 miles until the light comes back and I start having these problems.
First thing that needs to be done would be to have the check engine light codes pulled with a scan tool. Once we have the codes, we can better diagnose the problem.
Definitely electrical, may just be a solenoid. Get the codes and post them back in the comments below.
