1989 Mercedes 260E

I start my car and then put it in reverse and it stalls.  It won’t turn over and I have to jump it.  After jumping it, I put it in reverse again and it repeats the process.  What is wrong with it?

  1. Your alternator is bad and or your battery has am internal short. The engines computer requires a certain amount of “juice” in order to carryout all the complex calculations that takes place for the engine to run.

Having to jump start it indicates and issue with the electrical system. Most common would be the battery needs to be replaced. If you see a battery light icon illuminated when it does run at idle, this would indicate a failed alternator.
