If it is running normal you can look under the vehicle for a puddle or under the hood for a spraying stream from a leak. The fuel system s under pressure when the car is running so it should be fairly easy to spot a puddle on the ground after it has been running for a while.
If no puddle is found, look in the trunk for a spilled gas can.
