For the pass 6ys my engine has came the dealer told me I need Cataylis converter, I have replaced it twice and the oxygen sensor front and back what can it be.
The good news is the engine does not need a catalytic converter to run and it will not change your fuel mileage or the drivability of the vehicle what so ever. Generally a code comes up P0420 that indicates the converter is no longer doing a sufficient job. It uses the rear o2 sensor to evaluate the function. So if it truly is reading the function is poor it will send a signal to the computer and suggest you replace it. There should be a 3-year warranty on the converter. Ask them about the warranty and you may be able to get it replaced at no cost.
