When you are testing the next time have someone spray starting fluid in and see if it will rev up for you. If it does, then you KNOW it is a fuel related issue. Your fuel line may have a kink in it somewhere, the fuel pump may not be working properly, carburetor restriction, etc.
If it does not help it out by spraying starting fluid in, then it looks like your ignition components are breaking down. The most common being the ignition control module.
