High Idle 1993 Chevy 1500 5.7 tbi

Chevy truck

Cuts out and blows exhaust smoke when it picks back up its constant high idle also

Constant high idle is a classic description of a Vacuum leak. Fix the vacuum leak first and see how she runs. You can listen for it but sometimes difficult to hear. Check the PCV hose and the hose going to the brake booster as these are the most common. But could be any of the hoses. If it becomes difficult, I use brake wash spray and with the engine running spray the hoses and listen for an idle change. Then look at that specific area closer for cracks, etc.

Also if the check engine light is on you can pull the codes yourself.
