1998 Chevy Silverado K1500 4×4 5.7 L engine

My engine vibrates well driving up hills then starts idling higher than normal till I get to level ground drive for 2-5 kms before it starts idling normally again. Any reason why it would be doing that?

  1. Your engine does not idle while driving. It can only idle when setting still. If your engine RPM’s increase while under heavy acceleration, much like when driving up a hill, this is normal as the transmission downshifts.

However the engine should not vibrate unless it is not firing on all cylinders. With that in mind a good tune up may be in order.

Is the check engine light on?
