What does it mean when the engine light goes on ,check gauges goes on, the temperature thermostat goes from cold to hot, and the brakes start locking up. Also, no water in reservoir. Added water.
My first thought would be that the drive belt has come off. This would keep the water pump from working and cause the engine to overheat. This would also keep the alternator from working and would make the lights on the dash come on and things act different. As for the brakes wanting to lock up, nay be unrelated.
Still a good idea to pull the check engine light codes.
