2006 Dodge Ram 1500

After driving my truck a few miles I turn it off, it will not start. I replaced the starter and checked the grounds. It will not start with a jump box or jumped by another vehicle. Thanks-Mike

  1. What happens when you turn the ignition key to the “start” position?

    1) Nothing, but have dash lights?
    2) One hard click?
    3) Bunch of clicks (click, click, click)?
    4) Nothing but no dash lights?
    5) Cranks over but will not start?

  2. Assuming the battery is GOOD(load tested good) and charged.

A light click might be the Starter relay or the starter motor.
First thing I would try would be to swap the starter relay. Or jump across it for testing. If that is doing its job, then the next thing I would check would be for battery voltage at the “S” terminal on the starter while someone holds the ignition key in the “START” position. If you are getting battery voltage, replace the starter.

Here is a wiring diagram of the starting system that may help assist you with your diagnosis.
