I need a standard trailer wiring diagram for a auto trailer. The supply side has a 5 position plug. 1ground, 4 colored supply wires, trailer has two tail lights with brake light capability. I misplaced my instructions. Need help identifying colors of trailer connections.


The 5 wire  diagram shows the addition of a wire for use on electric brakes or back up lights. Where as on the 4 wire diagram does not. Use the provided wiring diagrams below to assist you in your installation.

Towing Package Factory Wiring Harness

The trailer tow preparation wiring harness is connected to the body wire harness. It is located at the right and left outer rear lamp unit connections. After installation is complete, a trailer tow stop/turn relay is secured to the harness behind the rear bumper fascia just below each outer rear lamp unit. A trailer tow stop lamp relay is located on the underside of each outboard end of the rear bumper reinforcement behind the rear fascia. The four-way trailer tow connector is located near the center of the rear fascia.

2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Windows, Locks, 1 Mirror problem. Front Driver door controls, lock switch only locks/unlocks front driver’s door. Window switches only open/close driver’s side front & rear windows. Front Passenger door switches do NOT lock/unlock doors or open/close windows. Rear driver’s door window switch works. Rear Passenger door window switch does NOT open/close the window. Keyless entry remotes do NOT work (Batteries are good) Interior lights come on with all door except the front passenger side. Driver’s mirror does adjust, Passenger mirror does NOT adjust. All wires running into the front doors have passed a continuity test. I’m leaning towards the Front Passenger side door module. What do you think?


I have found over the years that the wiring harness in the door jam becomes damaged easily. This is more common than you might think on older vehicles. Not the rule but worth checking. It is quite possible that the door module may be faulty or both.

What would make my 1993 Honda Accord spark plug smell like diesel fuel?


Contaminated fuel. This is more common than you would expect. The same delivery trucks are sometimes used to transport different grades of fuel. Under normal operating procedures the tanks are flushed after each haul. This helps prevent contamination of diesel and regular grade fuels. When this step gets over looked there can be upwards of a 100 gallons being mixed in the next load.

When your fuel is contaminated the engine may struggle and have performance issues. The engine may “PING” on heavy acceleration. Though in the short term no damage should occur but if not corrected severe internal engine damage will. Feel free to drive that tank out and fill up at a different fueling station the go around. For large fuel tanks an Octane boost may be used to prevent engine ping.

Nissan Altima

I need to repair the blend or mode motor and door assembly. I can’t get defrost or floor vent to open. The air conditioning only blows at me. How do I reach the blend door assembly?


You will need to remove the instrument cluster from the dash panel(see video). Then you will need to remove the BCM that is located behind the instrument cluster.

  1. Remove the BCM.
  2. Disconnect the mode door motor connector (1).
  3. Remove the mode door motor screws (A) and then remove the mode door motor.

Chrysler Town and Country

Engine light stays on. Mechanic’s scope indicated a code and changed the Catalytic Converter and one Oxygen Sensor. Shortly after the engine light came on again. He changed the second Oxygen Sensor. Light came on again Both times he used his meter, the code said the problem was with the Sensor. Any suggestions for what I should check next? Could the problem be electrical (a short or faulty wire harness)?


I am guessing as to what the actual code is as you did not provide it. If the code is different please indicate it by responding in the comments.

Probable Causes:

  1. Sensor or solenoid faulty
  2. Connector terminal contact is damaged or corroded
  3. Wire harness – Check harness for correct voltage, open, short to ground or short to voltage
  4. Update control unit software – Check for the latest control unit update
  5. Powertrain or Engine Control Module faulty
  6. HO2S sensor contamination/damaged
  7. Exhaust leaks or restrictions
  8. Catalytic converter damage
  9. Catalytic converter improper operation

Why is the turn signals blinking fast at the front of the car but the rear lights do not come on?


This is normal for when there is a bulb failure. You should also notice the turn signal indicator on the dash flashing fast as well. Replacing the bulb that does not illuminate should fix the issue.

Turn Signal Bulb Replacement

  • Open the hood.
  • Remove the radiator air baffle.
  • Apply light pressure to the headlamp lens to hold the headlamp in place while removing the retainers.
  • Lift up the headlamp retainers to release the headlamp from the upper fascia support.
  • Remove the headlamp from the slots in the upper fascia support.
  • Replace bulb

Turn Signal Lights

The TURN SIGNAL fuse in the LH I/P fuse block supplies ignition positive voltage to the hazard and turn signal lamp flasher assembly. The HAZ SW fuse in the RH I/P accessory wiring junction block also supplies battery positive voltage to the hazard and turn signal lamp flasher assembly. The turn signal lamps may activate only when the ignition switch is in the ON or ACCY position.

When the turn signal switch is placed in either the left or right position, current flows from the flasher module’s output to the turn signal switch assembly. The flasher module then sends an on-off voltage signal to either the left or the right turn signals and their instrument cluster (IPC) indicator. When you press the hazard switch, all the turn signal lamps and both of the IPC turn signal indicators will flash. The hazard and turn signal lamp flasher assembly is grounded at G201. The front turn signals are grounded at G101 and the rear turn signals are grounded at G302.

Dodge Ram 1500

radio sound goes in and out about every 20 seconds


Quite a bit of noise about this issue. From some of the posts I have read, the FIX was replacing the RADIO(not the Amp).

  1. Just as a quick try, Try disconnecting your negative battery post for about 60 seconds. Sometimes(but not always) this will clear an electrical glitch. It can’t hurt, and in fact, will give you the benefit of re-setting the PCM(like the Fuse 2 removal). Second thing I would check would be to plug connection in the back of the radio. Hope one of these two simple things may help you.
  2. Mine was fixed at the dealer. First they thought it was the amp which they replaced and still gave the same symptoms with everything working, just no sound. Then they replaced the radio and that solved the issue. So I ended up a new amp and a new radio. No problems since then.
