Rear wiper comes on

Something keeps draining my battery. Also the rear wiper comes on every now and then without being turned on. If you suspect I need a rear wiper motor, can you tell me where to find a diagram and instructions.

Wipers And Washers—Rear Window

The rear window wiper and washer system consists of the following:

  • rear window washer nozzle and jet
  • a rear window wiper arm and blade
  • rear window wiper motor
  • multifunction switch

2008 Lincoln TowncarI HAVE A HARD SHIMMY IN RIGHT FRONT WHEN I HIT A CHUGHOLE AT 65 OR MORE MPH

RESPONSE

About the only thing to do would be to inspect it. Put the front end up on jack stands and start looking. Look for loose mountings and or play in the joints.

Most common if it was not there until you hit the chughole would be a busted belt in the tire. You can rotate the tire tot he back and see if it changes. Replacing the tire would be the correct measure to take.

Lincoln Town CarHello, i’ll get right too it. My car has been parked for months now.

And i tried starting it but the battery died on me, “it’s winter here” so i traded it for a fresh one, now, the engine cranks normal “even with remote” but wont start.

The last time i started it, it had snowed quite a bit to the point snow was flush with my under carriage and Starter of coarse and maybe up inside the engine bay.

So I have no interior lights. I had cleaned the post and connectors.

All is done right, i’m thinking the Switch or bad Ground, wire. On account of the snow being so close to the wires.

So, it cranks but wont start and no lights “Interior/but one light i barely saw was in the Dash” and that was Service Engine Soon.

That S.E.S. was for my Gas cap i replaced and forgot to erase.

and it cranks with remote… but no Door Locks work or anything else on the Remote.

What you thinking

Thank You in Advance

RESPONSE

After a car sits for a awhile it may need to have the fuel system primed. This can be done by cycling the key. Turn the key to “ON” and hold for 5 seconds and then turn the key to “OFF”. Repeat 10 to 15 times. This will prime the fuel system.   A quick test would be to spray starting fluid in the air filter and see if it wants to start. Could be out of gas or a few other things. I have created a wonderful No Start Diagnostic Chart for just an occasion. Follow the steps on the chart.

Lack of interior lights could be a blown fuse or a bad connection at the battery. Make sure you connected all the wires that were removed when replacing the battery.

Lincoln ContinentalLincoln Continental dash lights go out and then it dies. Tired of replacing parts and still not fixing the problem.

RESPONSE

The most common reason for the dash lights to go out and the engine die would be an electrical connection issue. Most likely a bad connection at the battery or alternator. Not to be limited to the positive connections. All grounds should also be checked and cleaned. All positive connections should be checked and cleaned.

Perform The “Wiggle Test” when dash lights go out

With the engine running, wiggle the wires and wiring harnesses one by one. Note which one you wiggled last that made the dash lights go out and or caused the engine to die. This is the best way to discover the problem area. Repair the wiring and all should be good once more.

2002 Lincoln TowncarI have a 2002 Lincoln Town Car and I have blown fuse number 6 Electronic Automatic Temperature Control(EATC) twice in the last 2 days. The car is running with the air conditioning on and then an hour latter it blows.

RESPONSE

Most likely reason would be the Air Conditioning clutch relay is sticking. May also have a short coming from the clutch switch. Could be the switch or the wiring. I will provide a wiring diagram for better understanding of the blown fuse number 6.

2003 Lincoln LSWhat controls the down shift on my Lincoln LS transmission?

RESPONSE

I would think the speed sensors and the PCM. Let me take a look at the wiring diagram for the transmission. Yep, it would look like the PCM uses the input signals form different speed sensors. It also uses the signal form the throttle position sensor. Of course the selector switch for manual mode sends a signal tot eh PCM when activated. Here is the wiring diagram for you to look at for yourself.

2009 Lincoln MKZchanged tires and low air light (TPM Light) stayed on.

The TPMS – Tire Pressure Monitor System will need to be reset.

When the tire pressure warning light comes on solid and the message center displays “LOW TIRE PRESSURE”, check the air pressure of all tires and adjust to the specified cold pressure listed on the vehicle certification label (found on the driver’s door or door pillar). Drive the vehicle at 20 MPH for at least 2 minutes. If the vehicle has been stationary for more than 30 minutes, the sensor will enter into “SLEEP MODE” and stop transmitting. A TPM Sensor activation procedure may be needed.

TPM SensorIf one or more tire pressure sensors are replaced, it will need to be trained.

If the warning light stays on, there is a malfunction in the TPM System. See the appropriate manufacturer service information.
